What a great way to spend one's half day! I signed up for the Enthusiast Program, which is a 4-hr event of intense braking, obstacle avoidance at speed, and few autocross rounds with A4s and A5s, culminated by a track experience of the S5 and R8. What a beautifully neutral and balanced car the R8 is! Change of direction, braking, acceleration -- so effortless and lacking of drama.

Great experience, if you can find the time to sign up in an event close to you.
