Default Audio Question

I understand the stereo system is designed so that when you speed up the volume increases and when you slow down the volume decreases. Just wondering if there is an option in the MMI that allows you to change the amount of volume adjust so that the change is less noticeable.

Thanks for your help

Default The volume increases when the radio perceives other noise sources to compensate.

You can turn this function off(some of us have)in the MMI. I cant stand the constant change in the sound levels.

Default None that anyone has reported finding.

I used the Audiopilot for a long time when I first got the car, and it's ok when driving alone. But with other people in the car, the volume increase was very obvious and annoying. I've finally turned it off and use the thumbwheel on the steering wheel for volume control.

Default This is adjustable on the '01 radio itself.

I'd have to dig out the manual to see what sequence of buttons you need to push, but I'm certain it's possible. You lost this feature with the D3?

Default Yep, that feature is gone.

The automatic change in volume is not "speed" dependant, but will change upon the level of background noise. This is very evident when going from a rough road to new asphalt and the volume will decrease even though the speed hasn't changed. The problem is that we can't set that rate of change from the MMI. All this control, and yet making the car perfect is just out of our grasp.

Turning that feature off was one of the first things I did.

Default Thanks for all your help!

I'm driving my husband's beast today, so I'll have to wait until I get home tonight to figure this out. I'm actually driving the RS6 today cause my hubby wanted to take the A8 to the office to show a few friends. Funny, he never wanted to take the mercedes

I didn't realize the volume adjustment was based on interior noise levels. Maybe my kids are just too noisy!! (good excuse to tell them to BE QUIET! or mama's going to lose it...)

Default I seem to be the only one who appreciates the "respect" feature of the A8 (when I talk,

Mr. Plum responds by lowering internal noise so he can hear my instructions). I am planning on installing this feature in my office and home.
