Belt tension? Squeak?

Belt tension? Squeak?
Hello All,
How do I tighten the front belt? The one that runs the alternator, air conditioning, etc.
I still have a crazy squeak when the car idles from the one of the components attached to the belt. It depresses about an inch up or down from center when I pull on it from the bottom, around the alternator. I actually removed some of the plastic belly pan holders that where not being used, as suggested in the past. I'm currently on a road trip and would like to fix it before continuing back home.
Thanks,
Noel Sawyer

You can't tighten it, it has a built in tensioner
It has a tensioner, shown on the right in this picture.

You can't tension it by other means. The tensioner works by rotating the pulley just to the left of the crank pulley. Maybe your tensioner is dying a slow death?
I might suggest getting a new tensioner and pulley and belt.
Or just replace them when you do the timing belt if that's soon. They are probably about $150 in parts.
