Default Black Out!!

Anyone experienced same??

The engine "blacked out" a week ago. Replaced the fuel pump and everything was ok again. The engine has been running perfectly after the replacement - until tonight....! The engine suddenly died out again... Checked the fuse for the pump, ok - pump was running, but for some reason the engine seems to not receive any fuel at all. Well, - not very much else to do - with a dead engine on the highway: call a truck to pick up the car and take it to Audi. The car was winched up on the truck and same to take it off, of course. I tried to start the car again and; guess what - the engine was running again. Still, s'thing gotta be wrong, somewhere!!! Tank was half-full acc. to the gauge - which should be correct taking into consideration distance driven since last refill.

Air, water, condensation... I don't know - any ideas???????

Default could this be a problem with the ignition switch people talked about before?

That would have caused the fuel pump not to power up occasionally?

Default Sounds electrical. I would start with the fuel pump relay and then check the Hall Sensors....(m)

Also, did you replace the fuel filter with the pump. That should have been done at the same time...I would do that too!!

Good Luck!!

I replaced the fuel pump relay as well, but not the filter - unfortunatelly. The filter was replaced 4-5 months ago, but still....

Re. the ignition switch: I replaced the back plate of the ignition switch short time ago, say 2 months or so, because this part caused the heater fan to stop.

My car is now in the local Audi garage. Will call them first thing Monday morning to ask/discuss what to do as well as to inform of the "history"...

I do definetely not appreciate these failures, but hope to have it sorted out within a few days. Will keep you posted of the result(s)!

Default Check for fault codes....

....use the 1552 or ross-tech software to see if the engine has any codes....
