Blower resistor, location and replacement
My resistor is out. Any one guide me on where it is and how to replace it? Thanks!

My '97 wiring diagram doesn't show a fresh air blower resistor; it shows a control module, J126, in plenum, inside A/C housing, to right of fresh air blower V2. Under the hood, back near the firewall
There is a coolant fan set of resistors hanging out in free air behind the front left tire. How do you know your blower resistor is out? Did you check the fuse? |

What car do you have?

sounds like a worn out fan motor, the brushes are toast.

Replacement
How much of a PITA is it to replace? I'm pretty DIY.

Wrong forum. You have a D3 model. But I'm in agreement with those who have speculated that your motor brushes are toast. |
Blower motor
Thank you. Is it a huge pain to replace? On my make/model it is located under the hood, between the wiper arms, correct?

That's a good question for the D3 forum, for your specific version of the A8. Up one level and then back down into the D3 rather than D2 fourm.
