Default brake question

Got in my car this morning and when I was pulling out of the driveway, I had no power brakes. I was barely able to stop coming out of my driveway. Luckily nobody was coming down the street. After two or three stops, the brakes came back and they were fine. What gives? Anyone experience this?
Thanks

Default you didn't just replace pads by any chance did you ?

It'll take 3-4 pumps of the pedal to get the pressure back up after compressing the piston. Is the fluid low ? You might have a leak at one of the calipers which should be easy to spot.

Hey Bob,
Did not have my pads replaced recently, and the fluid resevoir is full, and there are no leaks.
This has happened before, and happens every once in a while.

Default Re: brake question

Possibly a bad vacuum check valve in the line to the booster. Possibly a bad booster. Master cyl seals do go bad, too, and will bypass fluid a time or two (esp when cold), then "catch".

Don't take chances. Diagnose and replace. Discharge the boost with the engine off and then see how fast it pumps (actually "sucks") back up.

Default What compound are you running? Was it cold out?

If it was not stock, you could just be running a harder compound which will give you those results....did you recently perform a brake job?

Had the brakes done last spring and the pads were just OEM pads. Since my post, the car has been fine???????
