VB service kit?
"Available in kit 1058 298 023" is the reference for a VB service kit from the parts listing.
I sure would like to get a look at that 5HPVBMAN service book. But spendy! Whew!

Re: Let me know if you do
I wouldn't mind borrowing that manual long enough to make a copy. I suspect I'll be tearing into my A8 trans at some point in the near future.
I see you have a 84 4000. I run across them occasionally in my local junkyards and would be glad to harvest anything you might be looking for. I recently pulled a good 4000 hood for a guy and some seat skins, among other things.

Valve bore wear?
There is a shortage of qualified information. There are a lot of these transmissions in service between Audi, BMW and Jaguar (does Rover use 5HP24's also?)
But these makers don't talk about service,"just replace the whole transmission", and ZF is no help at all.
The Transmission aftermarket outfit SONNAX is just up the road. I know several people who work there. Almost nothing is made to repair 5HP24 valve bodies. No market.

Manual is on it way to Utah! Dave, please send it to
Bob (A8CT) when you are done. Bob, I'm in no hurry to get it back, take your time with it. When you're done, send it over to diogeniS8 if he is still interested in scanning it. Or maybe someone else will like to peruse/copy it. Otherwise, just send it back to me at:
Greg Young
PO box 399
Dexter, MI 48130
It would be cool if everyone who uses it would sign their name, town and state on the front!
P.S., Dave, could you please write my name & address on the front of it someplace?. I was in a hurry this morning and forgot to do it.
