...and not many left.
Do it...or continue to be unequipped for most repairs. A mechanic without tools is just a customer of a likely more unqualified mechanic.
P.S. It doesn't even matter if the DVD is compatible with your computer ... once you buy and register, you have permanent online access to the DVD material and way more.

Thanks, guys.
I actually have the eBahn version of the docs. I bought it a few years back, but I thought there was a better manual out there from Bentley.
I've also got the RossTech cable and software, so I can read the codes, etc.
With the weather getting better, I hope to pay more attention to the cars soon.

I finally got around to running a compression test on this one.
The last thing I had done was swap the ignition modules with known good units, so I went back over those and re-seated the connectors. Then I disconnected the battery and gave it a good charge.
After that, it fired up and ran smooth - no misfires. The idle is nice (800 rpm, no stumbling at all), and the motor is properly responsive with no misfires up to 4,000 unloaded and about 2500 loaded.
I'll clear the codes and check, but I don't expect that misfire situation back. (It had been barely running.) Based on the sound and behaviour, I don't there there is any kind of compression issue.
Unfortunately, now I have a new issue. The transmission engages well in reverse, but does not seem to shift gears at all going forward. I also do not have the gear indicator on the dash, and manual mode also changes nothing.
I'll hook up the computer and see if the TCM is reachable, but I am guessing no.

The root cause of all of that was water infiltration into the electronics compartment. Increased humidity resulted in corrosion on the TCM connector. One pin corroded off entirely.
Fortunately, I had a spare TCM, so I was able to replace it and clean up connection blocks.
