Caustic bird **** on paintwork - remedy?
Spring is in the air, and that means so is acidic bird ****. My car got well and truly bombed in the week and I have only just noticed it and been able to clean it. So far I have just used soap & water to clear off the debris, and dried it.
It looks as if the **** has eaten through the laquer on the paintwork, leaving a rather dull splotch-shaped disfiguration on the paintwork.
Any tips to remedy this? I've yet to try a good polish, and would be relieved to hear that that's all that's need, but I doubt it is so simple
TIA

Re: Caustic bird **** on paintwork - update
Some good news for a change. My bonnet (that's my hood, not a frilly hat tied under my chin) looked like a patchwork quilt this morning once I had cleaned the crap off. Amazingly, though, a quick couple of goes with T-Cut and now I can't tell where the problem was.
What's interesting though is this: I had a couple of hits on the roof as well. Those have been a lot harder to shift. I've managed to lessen the damage, but you can still see where they were.
Same treatment for both panels, but the bonnet was replaced around two months ago. I'm guessing that the new paint maybe shows up superficial markings much more obviously, but those marks are easier to remove. It's all very odd, because before I set to work I was sure I could see and feel (with a fingernail) a dip of the surface into the marking, as if a layer of something had dissolved away.
