CD Error 1 on all CDs, eject, load, eject, load, eject.... same??? What's up with
 

these CD changer from Audi? I saw so many posts on here but no fix besides getting a new one for every few months? Anyone here that actually fix this problem?
It will go through every cd and error1 and keep loading and keep giving error1. It's not mechanical, and it was playing the same CDs in the magazine before.

Unplug the changer over night, it might be confused.
 

Sounds like you already tried, but are you sure all CDs were ejected back into the mag?

did you try a new batch of CDs?

YES, I put in a new set of CDs, one by one, 2 by 2, 3x3 all the way!!!

CD changer ERR01 & ERR02 fixed????
 

I tried to unplug the changer as Dan McBoost suggested and removed and re-installed the magazine, nothing changed, the ERR01 still there. I took the CDchanger cover off and start studying and trial & error with it and here's what I found and guessed hahahaha:

removed the bottom cover

turned on the cd controller from the car and watched the mechanics work.

The CD loaded will spin and the head will move along the rail and the screw shaft to try to read the inside track first, when it doesn't read then CD ERR01 came up.

I didn't want to removed the screw securing the head to move it because I saw some dirty dried grease on the rail that the head moves along, it may cause the head not to start at the correct place, clean the bar rail and sprayed some silicon lubricant on it and the screw shaft also, reloaded the magazine and voila, the sound came up from the car.
Went inside the car and forward to CD2 and ERR02 came up, went to the back and the CD stop spinning, it must not sit in the spinner correctly, took the magazine out and clean the mechanism the slide the CD in/out of the magazine and sprayed silicon lubricant to all the slider, toothed bar, everything behind the magazine.

Voila, reloaded the magazine, watched all 6 cds loading and spinning nicely and the sound of music came through the back BOSE speakers nice and sweet, went to the front start skipping through all 6 cds (old ones that have been there before it ERR01), moved forward tracks and backward tracks, all solid and playful hahahhaha. To be sure, went to the back knock the changer around (sudo shock treatment) a bit, turn it side way, face down, face up, lifted up, dropped down, still playing. I think I got it!!!
Re-installed the CDchanger and took my baby and wife shopping playing "baby Mozart" beautifully, still works, skipped cd to "US and THEM" and "MONEY" still worked, skipped to "Kashmere" still worked, may be it liked Pink Floyed and Led Zepplin ... hahahahha

CD unit fluid is NOT LIFETIME, as claimed!
 

Im glad that dropping the "pan" and changing the lubricant fixed the lack of noise.

All CD changers have the same principle, my sis' X5 CD changer wouldn't release
 

the CD on the spinner, I had to open it up and released it manually, now she had the err01 and planning to order a new one not too long ago, if she didn't I'm sure I can do it for her the same way.
If all CD has the ERR01, the head couldn't initialize the first track because it's placed at the wrong position (in my logic), you can't clean the head, it's laser. If the spinner doesn't spin the CD, then the mechanics that place the CD to the spinner didn't do its job correctly.
Unless the head is dead, no laser, the spinner belt or motor broke, then there's nothing to fix. I don't believe the laser and the spinner motor would last a few hundred hours, they should last thousands of hours.
I think everything that's wrong with the CD changer is just the mechanical aspect of it. I'm sure they use white lithium grease on all the slider, gears, bars, guides, but they do get dry and dirty over time. Laser reading must be accurate, and the CD must be mechanically placed in correct place for the motor to spin. If you get spins, laser reads, then you should have sound. The electronic components these days should last millions of hours, not thousands.
