Central locking pump problem.
First off i just want to say hi to everyone I am a new member here, my name is Slobo. I've been driving and working on/modifing a 93 300zx turbo for over 5 years. I recently purchased a 2001 S8 with 38K on the clock. I fixed a few things here and there, vacuum lines, air filter, power steering flush, brake flush, and such, but i'm still getting a "central locking pump faulty(likely leak)" code on vag software. I was quoted by the dealer $540 for part, does anyone know if a pump from 99 A6 will fit? It's exactly the same and part numbers match 8L0 862 257 N.

I pressurized the lines and it holds vacuum fine, i really doubt there is a leak. Dealer also checked it out and said it was a pump.
I'll get the pump on ebay, I just hope I'll be able to program keyless.

Can you post the part no. for the vacuum pump? Mine has been out for a while now. Did not know it was also used in the A6, but now I'm guessing it is also the same part for all D2 A8s.

part number is 8LO 862 257 N. I should have it by the end of the week, hopefully it will work. Will the new pump have to be adapated or coded a certain way?
