Default Ceramic brake pads?

After 60,000 mile service (even though I only have 49,000 on it?) dealer says pads are gone on front and down to metal and there is not enough rotor left to turn, rear has approx 7k left.
Called around and the guys who do the rest of our cars found some ceramic pads and some rotors for roughly 1/3 the estimate from the dealer.

Question, do I really need OEM rotors and pads?

Ceramic pads claim very little brake dust residue (always a plus)

Default

Cheap rotors = warped rotors most often. Don't know about pads.

Default Do you want to do it twice?

If you don't, and don't drive aggressively, then go with OEM stuff. Won't have to change it again for 50K miles.

Here's the discount pricing I discuss before:

Front rotor - $118.67 each
Front pads - $127.90 set
Rear rotor - 54.99 each
Rear pads - 84.74 set

These are OEM parts from Laurel Audi in Westmont, IL. I bet a lot cheaper than what your dealer is quoting, but ask for a discount, they'll give it to you!

BTW, I wouldn't change from OEM unless you want to start troubleshooting once they don't work right.

Default I do drive the car fairly hard

I'm an appraiser so I do a lot of stop 'n go in the city, as well as a bunch of highway miles and even dirt - country - gravel roads a few times each month.

The dealers quote of approx $800 seemed steep but after seeing the prices on the reply maybe not.

I'll keep checking, maybe my guy can come up with some OEM spec parts for less.

Default contact ECS Tuning...they have several packages that might work.

I've got the slotted rotors and mintex pads. There's almost no brake dust at all.
