Cloudy chrome trim pieces: I may have found a working solution.

Have had issues back and forth with a few of the chrome trim pieces slowly losing their shine. Replaced 2-3 different pieces in the past 3yrs, only for the problem to return shortly.

Last week, just for the fun of it, I used some of the STP Complete Fuel System Cleaner to rub the chrome pieces with it, and 1wk later, all trim pieces are still sparkling shiny like new!

I have no idea why this is, while I have used a ton of chrome-shining products in the past year, most of which ended up producing more haze on the trims.

I believe the main issue with the cloudiness is that the clearcoat slowly degrades and needs removal and reapplication, but it's not worth the effort or cost. At least for now I have a surprisingly decent solution that I'm happy with...

I'll post some pics. I took my front pieces off, wetsanded and polished. MUCH better and could be

mirror like if you took the time.

Thanks for the tip. I have tried everything and it did not work. Will try this now!

I wonder if that just eats through the clearcoat (which wouldn't be a bad thing) ?

Could be, which is why I'm careful not to let it rub on the body paint areas.
