I did and here's some related follow up. A few people have indicated some clicking on the 2000's with the key in the ignition. I thought maybe I installed the motor wrong because I was getting the same noise although the motor seemed to fix my problem. I just re-checked after about 2 months of having the new motor installed and I'm not getting any codes and the A/C seems fine. I still get the clicking and it's NOT coming from the recirc flap motor. There are two round relays (or something else) just below the motor which is where the noise seems to be coming from. There's also a related noise (kinda of cycling back and forth) on the pass side of the engine. So, since I'm not getting any error codes I'm guessing this "clicking" noise is normal. If you wait long enough (like running the auto-scan with the vag-com) the clicking noise does stop. On comment on Paul's message - I still had the original problem of not getting
the A/C to blow out of the center vents consistently whether I had the recirc button on or not. Logically doesn't make sense since this flap controls the outside air flow but it blocked the airflow even when disengaged. Hope this helps. Picked up a few "new" codes while I was out there.
