Default Crank Position Sensor (Early 97 V I N)

Hello... Chasing a no start on a 97 4.2 Quattro. CPS wire on current one is fried. I am having a hard time cross referencing a CPS part number for an early 97 vin car. The connector is rectangular and not D shaped like all the ones I have come up with. Does anyone have a part number for the early vin style connector. The pn on the old sensor is 026121014476343. Thanks

Update: Apparently, I need to wire in this harness adapter p/n 4D0971379, available at various VAG online dealers. At 110 bux and up (not including sensor), I am still researching alternatives in terms of connector parts. I have also emailed Bosch about a possible substitute sensor. Anyone other ideas would be welcomed. Thank you.

Thanks for the suggestion. Do you know for sure that this part has the right specs for the A8 D2 ECU? I already tried one from a 90s era Porsche that "looked" right, but throws a G28 code.

Seems to be some correlation between part numbers. Ordered and will report back. Thanks again for the suggestion.

What is your 3-letter engine code?

Maybe it's like the V8Q part?

I received the above part and installed. The sensor is slightly different in that it has a lip with an oring. It does not quite go in all the way. I did install it. It is not throwing a G28 code, but the car is still not starting. There are no codes being thrown. I found a pigtail and sensor combo at rock auto for around 70 bux. As soon as I figure out the best way and where to splice it in, I will give that sensor/harness a try (su4340). Do I wire the pigtail at the computer? Where would be the best place to splice this sensor pigtail? I will start a separate no start thread going forward. Thanks for the help.
