D2 S8 Transmission Shifter Detent Spring Adjustment
Thanks to helpful information from people on this site and others I am 95% done rebuilding the 5hp24a in my 2003 S8. There is plentiful information out there for this process and the ZF Manual is extremely detailed. THe only problem is that it often references specific tools to use and you have to improvise. There is one step I'm not clear how to improvise. Hoping Tozo or someone will chime in.
The Detent Spring for the shifter is adjustable. I accidentally loosened it when disassembling the transmission. The procedure for aligning it is not helpful. See attached PDF. If I get this setting wrong the transmission won't shift between P/R/N/D very well. I don't think it affects things once underway.
Any ideas on how to properly align this?
