Default D3 rear calipers and a6/passat transmission in a d2?

I have seen people saying on ebay that an a6 5sp manual awd can be used in an a8? Is this correct? Would there be modification to the bell housing?

I have also seen threads on this site regarding the d3 rear calipers, Some say if you drill some holes in them they will bolt up? anyone know if this is true?

Thanks!

The d3 rear calipers have an electronic parking brake so I don't see them as an option (at least in my opinion)

I swear I have seen some options with the no-electric albeit rare.

But if I'm wrong about that you, are saying the bolt holes and everything else lines up but you must find a way to control the electric or it is unsafe?

I do not think people like the electric parking brake very much. Why bother fitting some hokey-*** retrofit electric brake to a D2 when you can just fit good working D2 calipers? If you are looking to retrofit something better (like if you are towing a boat with a lot of tongue weight) then I would chase a proper opposed-piston brake conversion. Even the D3 S8 has a sliding single piston rear caliper though so this style caliper will probably do ya. Unless it's a pretty big boat.
