Water in flooring, not AC

Water in flooring, not AC
I have water in drivers side flooring. It's not the AC drain that's backed up or slipped off, I haven't even used AC in the car. It's water from outside, rain, pouring in somehow. All I find through google is the AC drain problem.
Is there other common causes for water in the flooring?
Tips for where and what to check?
Thanks in advance.

I just dealt with this
The water was coming in from under the cowl down through the area behind the door hinge apparently through the boot the wiring in the door goes through. And through a hole that was drilled in the body on both sides of the engine compartment to drain water that sat under the hood near the ECU. I purchased the car a year ago and didn't notice the water was in the car until I saw how fogged up the windows were compared to the other car in the driveway. I never once felt anything wet. But it was soaked. I had to pull everything out of the car and dry it out. Luckily I was able to catch it before it was ruined by mold.

You might have a look at this area, it's a common problem:

Photo 2 (Glued cardboard cover over hole removed)
Photo 3 (New 8 mm hole plug)
Photo 4 (Soudal Fix All Flexi added)

Exactly what I was looking for, many thanks. I can't seem to see the hole on my car, but the hose isn't there either. Might be water is getting in where the hose is supposed to be, I see the hole it came through. What hose is it?

The hole is covered by a little cardboard piece that is pretty much invisible because there is paint all over the area.
In my case, wiping over the area with a paper towel made the little cardboard piece fall off. The hole was invisible before that happened.
I am unsure about the hose, it might be a vacuum hose for the cruise control.

There is a Würth 8 mm rubber plug (Würth 056118) that fits perfectly (see link to motor-talk.de above).

https://bartsparts.com/products/wurth-056118/

You might be able to order it at a Volvo dealership for less than 1 EUR: Volvo Part No. WUWUE056118
But I am unsure if it's still available at Volvo.
For additional protection, you could put MS polymer sealant (Soudal Fix All Flexi or similar) over the rubber plug.
If you turn on the wipers and switch off the ignition switch at the right moment, you'll be able to get the wiper linkage out of the way.
