did you guys have trouble getting the white/sender cap off? I have the tool but one of the tabs
immediately broke so it's useless now. I'm trying to rig up a couple of allen wrenches and a pry bar in the two holes. It's really tight and it's not moving much, if at all.
This is exactly what happened to me when I pulled my old one out.

and the jackass award goes to.....
ME.
The sender cap is unscrewed clockwise, not counter clockwise.
That's why I couldn't get it off the last time either.
Onward....

Worked OK.

and I noticed in your write-up you said clockwise but I sorta thought it was a typo for some reason
at least I know why I couldn't do it last time.

swapped the pump into the housing. The black flexible line is just a return...
and doesn't connect to anything correct?
It's just hanging inside the housing, I don't see a connection point.
Just want to be sure before I put it back in tomorrow.
