Durable engine? 2.5 3.3 or 4.2?

The 4.2 is petrol / gasoline so expect >10l/100km. Maintenance costs will be better than the 3.3 diesel because it is more common and the 40V version (99>) shares parts with other models (A6 C5). Probably also cheaper to buy the car since there are more 4.2s.

Well I want to buy the 4.2 diesel. There are quite some diesels in Poland. The car will be used for quite some kilometers so petrol will be too expensive

A D3 would be a better option if you need diesel tbh. The 3.0 V6 TDI is very common and a far better engine than the 2.5 V6 and is only 5hp down on the 3.3 V8 in the D2.
There are 4.0 and 4.2 V8 diesels in the D3 of course too.
