Electronic Control Module
Hooked up my car to the Vag-Com today, just for the hell of it. Checked to see if there were any engine fault codes, and I got the following:
Electronic Control Module Incorrect Coding, Intermittent. Code 18020. The Bentley says the corrective action is to replace the ECM. I had a new ECM installed two years ago from the stealer. The car runs and drives fine, but this code has made me nervous. I'll keep checking to see if the code comes up again. Has anyone gotten this code before?

New devotee to forum. 1998 A8 103K. Trans fluid/filter changed @63K and now @ 103K. Aluminum and brass in pan. Trans started to really bang the torque converter. EC U tells converter to lock up very early and not to unlock until almost @ stop. Stepping on brake does not get ECU to release converter. Now runs much better as I am using the tiptronic to shift. Am I looking at ECU @ $1400 or ECU/ converter @ $2400 or tranny/ECU/converter @$7000 or any offers to buy?
