Default Engine light stays on..
Everything else is OK.

Turning on the IGN., turns on the light too.. anyone with an idea??

I'm wondering if unplugging the battery will re-set the ECM?

Or: is something amiss? pc

The check engine light ?

Read the codes.

If the engine goes through 2 driving cycles without a fault, it will go out.

If I ever drive my car and the CEL isn't lit up, I assume the bulb is broken.

I'm the exact opposite.. I won't drive a car with a CEL on...

Me neither, it was a poor attempt at humor. Without VAG-COM and these forums, you can play whack a mole with the CEL in perpetuity
