Default Engine wire harness replacement

Greetings. I would highly value support to guide me to the step-by-step replacement of the Engine Wire Harness as practically most of the problems that pop up from time to time are related to the broken circuits or wires which I have to find from time to time and solder, especially ones going to the transmission, etc.
If there is a link to such site, please share or just explain. I do have the full engine wire harness from another D2.
Many thanks

I changed mine with the engine out of the car.
That being said you could possibly do it in the car but it will be quite a bit of work.

Thanks for your reply, Audinutt. I know that this is the best way to do it, but at the moment it poses too much of issues. Therefore, what I want to know is the location and functions of sensors and units which are supposed to be connected with the harness connectors. Actually, I had a plan to do it 'parallelly' taking off the old one and plugging in the new one but knowing details would be of great help.
Thanks
