Default Fan not turning on after the car is turned off.

I have noticed over the past two days that my fan is not turning on after the car is turned off. The engine is warm and becomes excessively hot after the engine is shut off. Any ideas. can this be fixed by vag, or is my thermo shot?

Default What fan? Electric radiator fan?

It shouldn't be running when the car is turned off, did you open the hood and verify this?

How long does it run?

Default did it stay running before? Some audis have an afterrun system

but many of the newer ones don't.

Default not sure which fan, my hood latch cable broke. I dont want to damage anything else by yanking the

open. Other then that, Nromally I notice a fan kick on after I turn the car off, on a hot day or a long drive. I have a feeling these recent problems are all signs for my TB/WP/Thermo change. I had the hood up two nigths ago and the engine seemed hotter then average.

Default Its probably your aux FAN...

The electric one on the side of the main fan. its happened to me too and the engine is very hot when you try to open the hood.

You can start it manually after the engine starts by tappign on the motor or pushing the fins by hand quickly and legging go (BE CAREFUL)

My mech. talls me taht tah carbon has worn out and cant really be fixed therefore it has to be replaced.

Although if it is the main fan then its probbaly the fan clutch.

i wont be surprised if both failed becasue it has happened on mine.

Default Which is as it should be for the radiator fan. Look at the wiring diagram

The three relays for the three speeds of the electric radiator fan get coil power only with the key on. Unless somebody added an after run modification, if the fan runs with the car off, one of the relays has stuck or something else is wrong, and there is no guarantee that the fan will shut off before running down the battery.
