The second hardest thing about towing the A8 to the scrap yard was the loss of such a special color car (the first was knowing it had a mint rebuilt tranny in it)

The color grows on you. I was sceptical when I bought the car but at the 3K price tag it could have been pink.

I bought a large can of "I Match" touch up paint that I never used. PM me if you want it.

Took it to the mechanic for a slow leak. TWICE. they couldn't fix it.
turned out to be the oil cooler plastic pipe.

Unfortunately I found that out when my wife was driving car and it gave out.
She drove it home overheated and that killed it. I fixed the pipe but then it was burning fluid and overheating after 30 mins.

I tried the head gasket seal stuff for the first time in my life and ran it for little runs to the corner store on the weekends. This actually helped and the car was drivable for longer in town trips without over heating but that proved to me that engine was blown and she wasn't worth fixing at 185k Miles. Was a hard call but I have been really busy with work and not having time for weekend wrenching so I broke down and bought a new car.

Some may have tried to sell it on CL but that's a lame thing to do to someone. It was like loosing a pet. Even though it had sat in the garage for months it felt weird no having our purple pet around the house. :(

Wife loved that A8 a soo much but got over the loss rather quickly as the 2017 car has all of the electronics that sync your phone and car. Can even remotely start car from phone.

We still have the S8 to soothe us. Having garage with no 4 rings would just be to much to take. ;)

glad you still have the S8. These are a ridiculously hard car to let go of.
