What type of brakes do you have? If you are in the UK,

you might have Lucas brakes. Here is a pic of the stock Lucas Dual piston setup. I replaced mine with Mintex MD1571s. They have the sensors and do not squeek, I am very happy with them. They cost about 85 GPB in London, I also found the Lucas originals on eBay in the UK, if you wnat the link email me. |
Re: What type of brakes do you have? If you are in the UK,
Mine are the same type as yours.
do you have a part number for the pads? did you change the rotors as well? whos did you use? I have seen posts on here saying the mintex pads squeal, I bought some cheaper pads "Apec" and after 3k they squeal like hell. But I have been assured by the supplier if I had changed the rotors as well they would not have squealed, but they are a harder compound and do not brake as well, but they were £120.00 ($216.00)cheaper!!! |
Here are the goods....
Here are the original Lucas pads.
I never got the part number, but I can look it up when I get home on Friday. The guy that sells them in the UK on ebay is livinskicarl@slivinski.freeserve.co.uk and the old item number was #2487604557 - AUDI A8 BRAKE PADS FRONT Sorry I had the mintex part number wrong it is mdb 1751 at 120GBP. They have a great website in the UK with a dealer locator. Be careful, they may try to sell you the single piston design (they tried to do this to me in London). My Mintex seem fine, I have no squeal. I used Zimmerman rotors (30x314mm) the exact same as the originals the part number is 441615301AA, the same as the Audi Original. Make sure they put in both A's, I think the single A is different. Good luck, email me if you have questions. |
Re: Here are the goods....
