Gas Smell (99A8Q)
I've noticed that the car smells of gas after I have filled the tank. It never did this before. The smell remains until the tank is partially emptied by driving. When parked in the garage the smell is so stong that I'm concerned that it may even pose as an explosive hazard.
Anyone had similar problems and found a fix?

Re: Gas Smell (99A8Q)
if the car doesn't have a cel on,it's going to soon.most likely problem,is the seal for the fuel pump housing.if you want to check it yourself,it's very easy.open the trunk, remove the 2 plastic screws out of the trunk carpeting[one on each side towards the front.remove them, pull the carpet back enough to remove the black cover on the right side[3 phillip head screws].remove the cover and see if you see a puddle or yellow stains on the housing.if so the fuel sender seal leaks.another possibility would be the neck or the fuel sender in the left tank.are there any leaks?

Re: I had this problem, but ...
I believe this is a recall type issue but believe they call it a tech improvement. Check with dealer, I think there was a problem with the gas tank filler neck or something to that effect.
