This is going to hurt. Six speed manual.

It sounds a major achievement to me. There are some parts available....
in Europe which would have saved time and work.
There is a flywheel for the V8 with a manual box in the new S4 and has been for a long time in the C4 S6+ which had the 6 spd box.
I would have thought a pedal box from another model could have been adapted complete with master cylinder for the clutch but that probably was not too hard taken in context.
Would it not have been possible to swap the rear diff to keep the original A8 rear housing?
All in all I think an excellent job - are you going to take on more?

I bought the flywheel, clutch and the pilot bearing for $ 300 with shipping.
It is a dual mass flywheel from the B5 S4. I wanted to have a dual mass flywheel to save the tranny from the extra torque. I believe the older V8 had a single flywheel and I definitely don't want lightweight flywheel in my car.

Tazo, thanks for the EM, I normally don't pruse this (I'm a type44 guy) site but I'm totally blown..
away!! Just speechless.. all Audis are money pits (like pre90's) but this one makes it all worthwhile. Really, you should contact some of the magazines (my favorite..EuroTuner). This project is just what the public wants. I'm really tired of the same articles (installing BOV, widebody kits, etc). As an aged Mech Engineer (one prospective employer said I was obsolete!), THIS is an engineering feat in the highest regards. Keep it up.
