Default Going to purchase a 97 A8

At the moment I am Audiless. I have owned previously two '89 20 TQ's. When I get back from vacation I have the opportunity to buy a '97 A8 in the pearlescent White. It appears to be perfect with 92,850 mi. and an owner who is more **** than I am about maintenance, having just done the timing belt and all O2 sensors, rear seal and CV boots that leaked. He wants $10.5k. Any comments, suggestions, red flags, etc.? Thanks in advance. Dave

Default Probably on the high side

for cost. But it's still a better deal than any other car out there.

Regardless of condition, a 97 is really not worth more than 8K I think.

Default i agree with paul. offer 9K

Also, when driving it be aware of the transmission. Try to sense any thumps/shudders, etc. try getting on the gas, off, then back on quickly and see if it thunks. Also try coming to a quick stop and see if the tranny catches up right or if it thumps back down to 1st. Good luck.

BTW...go to www.audipages.com for the A8 Buyers guide

Thanks to Paul and to KYNZ for your help. I appreciate it. I have printed off the checklist and will do my due diligence here. Hope to be an Audi owner again soon. Dave

Default I bought my 97' A8 Pearl white fully loaded for $8300 almost 3 years ago.

It had 99K miles. 97' A8 worth $7000 or less.

Does EVERYTHING on your car work except the latch to the cupholder? How are the brakes? Being that I'm in Idaho I would need to know about where the reserve is since it will ikely cost me about $1000 to get the car to me if I bid & win the auction. Do you have ANY issues with the tranny or engine? Am I correct that you have both the HOT and COLD packages? Thanks.
