Default Great news for my poor A8! They can, and will fix it, but I have a question...

Which is great, because it's Chad Taylor's old car of the band "Live", and I think he'd be pissed if I wrecked his old car haha. I'm in a great mood, but I have a question. Since my rear bumper is already in splinters, I was interested in getting them to put on an S8 bumper (as insurance will cover the cost of the regular one and I'll pay the difference). Does the S8 bumper come with 2 rear cut out boxes for that true dual exhaust effect, because that's what I'm looking to get out of it. I want to get a Miltek or whoever makes a decent dual for this car. Also, does anyone know if the S8 bumper will "bolt on" to a regular A8, or will it have to be heavily modified to fit properly?

Any info would be great, it's a 1998 A8.

Default You need a pre facelift bumper

No D2 ever came with dual exhaust. Even the S8.

I know the front bumpers and different from the face lift to pre facelift, but not 100% sure about the rears.

Default Rear Facelift A8s have some factory chrome on bumpers

that line up with sides of the car. It is not worth doing the mod since it was not an aggressive rear look. Just do the exhaust tips a la S8. single side a la S8

Front bumpers differ do to the headlight designs, but you didnt get hit there so no point in trying for the S8 look. Rims and mirrors are what I did

Default Ok, I think I get what your saying but...

I'm not too up on the "facelift" and "pre-facelift" concepts. Is it just the year, or is it certain models? Does that mean there's no bumper that they can order from Audi that will have 2 boxes? All I need to do is give them a year and a model and they'll do the rest, unless you guys think its really not worth it?

Default there is no factory dual outlet rear bumper

97 to 99 was the pre-facelift design - no trim on the top edge of the bumpers

2000 to 03 -trim on the top of the bumpers

just get a stock replacement

Default I'm feeling ok, just very very stiff in my back, so I'm doing physio 3 times a week now...

And I also told them to just stick on the stock bumper. S8 exhaust it is!

Default Just looking at ETKA herre, and it looks like the facelift bumper might fit the pre-face bracket

There doesn't really appear to be any difference, although I realize that it might be tough to judge from the illustration.

My motive for buying the facelift cover would be purely cosmetic, just getting that "slick" chrome trim around the back.
