headlight leveler alarm
So I'm travelling at rural highway speed and arrive at my turning off point a bit sooner than I remembered (a route I've not taken for a couple years), and I clamped 'er down a bit more heavily than your average traffic slowdown, and the funny-looking headlight leveler warning comes on. Book says "take it to the dealer". Not likely I'll spend a grand fixing that, but has anyone seen that alert show up?

Re: headlight leveler alarm
I had the warning come up. The problem was one of sensors in the back bumper went bad, so the leveling was off. The cost was very little to replace. I'm thinking around $200.
The dealer is the only place that can fix it quick.
I'll look for the invoice and repost
Thank you

Re: Sensors in the backbumper
The xenons adjust there level based on the level of the car. So if you are going over the top of a hill the xenons will adjust down. This is based off the 4 sensors in each corner of the car. They are adjusting continuously. Also they will lower on the driver side when another car is approaching at night so they do not blind the driver of the approaching car. This is what the dealer explained to me and it makes sense. I'm still looking for the invoice and my manual.

Maybe the D3 works with bumper-sensors. The D2 uses only the sensors on the driver-side controlarms
My dealer also mixes-up the D3 and D2 in tech-questions. They don't see a A8/S8 very often.
They think for example, that changing the xenon-bulbs on the D2 involves removing the front bumper.
That's true on the D3 but not at all on the D2.
Just an example on dealers being very much uninformed in a lot of cases.
