heated seat retrofit - wiring questions
<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/55607/xtra_wires_hseats.jpg"></center><p>
I guess I'm avoiding looking at my wife's transmission again. The car has been sitting for two weeks and it'll be another couple of weeks until I "really" get time.
In the meantime, I bought my old Lexus back from my niece for $500. I sold it to her a couple of years ago after driving it for ten years. The car is amazing for what it is but I'll save that for the Lexus board
In the meantime it's getting cold in New England and I don't have heated seats.
My old car did, and I already swapped the seats into the new car. I also swapped the HVAC head unit and (for some unknown reason), I saved most of the old wiring harness which has really paid off.
I kept the harness attached to back of the control unit and have been going wire by wire. I added in the main 20a fuse in the brown fuse holder that controls the seats and rear shade (which I don't have). That works, I have 12v coming out and going to the head unit. Fuse # 10.
There's also a 10a fuse which handles a bunch of stuff and is also labeled "potentiometer for seat heating". Fuse #2.
I have all of the wires accounted for under the pass seat. I haven't touched the driver side yet.
Here's where I'm stuck, and not that I can really read wiring diagrams anyway, the heated seat diagram in my Bentley does not open.
1) The gray/blue stripe wires shown in the pic. I have no idea where they go. They come out of the bundle going to the head unit. I traced the same color back on the old harness and there's a whole bunch of them that get tied together in the harness. They do this for some of the grounds and 12v feeds too.
2) The other 2 wires also shown in the pic. Black with blue stripe and black with purple stripe. I don't see those anywhere?
The four wires are in the bundle for both sides so I assume two for each seat.
3) There's a Black wire with a yellow stripe that is already connected to fuse #2. There's
also another wire. It looks exactly like fuse #2 on my old harness so I haven't "connected" anything to it like I did for fuse #10.
Do I need to have the driver seat conncted in order to complete the circuit? I say that because...
It's the same color as a wire that runs over to the drivers seat (which you can also see in this pic). It's not conncted to the seat yet.
Anyone bored or can send me the heated seat wiring diagram for a facelift car?
thanks,
Bob
P.S. - the wire nut will be replaced

GR/BL (gray/blue) wire - illumination power for the lights on the switch. All switches have it....you can get it off any switch, here's a picture where you can see it:
<img src="http://audipages.com/upgrades/nav35.JPG">
SW/BL (black/blue)- Input power from fuse 2 for the heat adjuster (switch), to terminal six on the back of the switch.
SW/LI (black/violet)- This is the output from the driver's side seat heater, terminal 4 that is the signal to the steering wheel heat to turn on. If you don't have a heated steeering wheel or it doesn't work, don't worry about it.
The main power for the seats comes in from ST5, fuse S10, it goes to terminal 1 on the heat seat switch, it's a 2.5 mm (large wire) and it's red/white wire.
Good luck! Here's a picture from when I did my facelift mod to my 97:

Anyone install OEM heated seats in a non-heated car? Searched for a hour with nothing? Part Numbers?
