Default Heavy Battery Removal 1998 A8 Tips??

I need to remove the original battery of my 1998 A8 which amazingly has lasted all these years. It is so damn heavy and you can hardly get your fingers in the small compartment, I was wondering if there is some unknown trick to getting it out??

Default

They are great OEM batteries, I still have an OEM one from 2001 I replaced many years (due to age) ago but kept it around as a shop battery. It's 100% OK.
I think it has a pop-up handle? They are no fun to finagle out.

If you replace it, most shops want to sub in a smaller battery and you have to badge the hold-down if you use one of them. The 95R or H9 fits like original, the H8 is what most shops sell you.

Default Batteries need help.. don't throw them away

Fix em, and save your money for better things.. like a 1 amp manual charger and a few other minor necessaries.
(gloves, safety glasses, a big enough plastic dish pan, distilled water, baking soda and epson salt, a small scale and some time.) pc
