How many A8's will pass the 200,000 mile barrier?
At some point a transmission rebuild is inevitable, but should most A8's make it past the 200,000 mile barrier with ease? My 2002 just made it past 100,000 and is solid as a rock and still looks like new. It just seems like another 100,000 should be easy to attain.

I would say most
Audi's last a lot longer than most cars.....but I would say that once you are over 150K and 10 years.....things start breaking.....so it's not very cheap at that point.

146k here on a 99 year car
Consumes some oil, but LOF every 3k miles takes care of it. I hope rebuilt tranny matches the 108k the original got.
Next timing belt is due around 210k for me, or the year 2012 or so

Re: How many A8's will pass the 200,000 mile barrier?
I would say very few of them will. We have 12 of them in our yard at this time of which 5 were not wrecked when they came in (trans. issues) and not one has over 140,000 miles. The A8 has depriciated faster than the old V8's and who wants to spend $3,500 on a transmission rebuild when some of the early cars are barely worth that.....
We had over 40 V8's in the yard over the years and I don't remember one that had over 200,000. Again, most were totaled because of the transmission...........

I am at 248k now, only non-maintenance issue I had
was the fuel pump at 180k, still runs and looks great with original tranny, with hunting and thumping.
My previous Audi was a '91 V8 5 Speed, donated that one with ~250k as well.
