I have found some interesting info about aftermarket xenons...more
Hey all.
I just bought a 1997 A8, and I am looking to make some upgrades to it.
I want to have xenons.
It is prohibitively expensive to import all the components necessary... $3,000+ from what I have found so far...
However, I talked to a vendor who is only a few weeks away from marketing a new xenon system that is inexpensive and simple to install. It would be available for A4, A6 and A8.
It is basically a xenon bulb. This is not those fakey halagen bulbs with xenon gas in them.. this is an actual xenon element and is being manufactured for automotive companies soon. Over $100 million has been spent by two different companies to bring this technology to market.
It will be a very simple install with very minimal wiring necessary. Should be about a half hour procedure and is definately do-it-yourself.
The 25,000 volts required to heat the gas will be produced by the bulb and it's internal element.
The price should be about $600 US for a set.
As soon as I have additional info available, I will pass it on to all you guys.
I have absolutely no financial interest in this information.. I'm just a consumer.
I should be one of the first in NA to try it on my car though.
This is great news for all of us out there that are looking for an affordable solution to aftermarket xenons.

Length of Life for Xeon's
What is the life expectancy of xeon headlights. Why is the taht when we turn on the bright lights they turn yellow and kind of override the white Xeons'? As our Xeon equipped Audi's get close to the end of our " free " replacement period is there anyway to tell how much longer they will last and te cost to replace a a dealerships? How about making them blow just before free period ends ? Just kidding !
