I swooped up a 97 silver black interior 120k on the ticker for 1500.00.
So the first thing I noticed the gas gauge went all the way near empty I filled it and the car ran out of gas right as the fuel light came on. I reset the cluster and pulled the fuel pump fuse and no luck.
The transmission goes into limp mode after 4 or 5 start cycles, have yet been able to run it on vagcom. The battery light came on yesterday in the morning on the way to work and then when I go to leave the battery was dead. I got it jumped and drove it home and it acted fine like the alternator was charging. I get home and pull the positive battery cable off and the car died which points to the alternator.

I'm not worried about the transmission as I'm going to swap a 0E1 into it. but the fuel gauge and charging problem is my concern.
just seeing what advice is out there that will save me some time

I believe he's worrying about a hangnail, rather than the heart transplant (trans swap) he plans to perform
