Believe it or not, the same part is used on Lambo Gallardo...and about the only source you can buy it separate from the high $$ VW/Audi "repair kit". But, surprisingly not Lambo-priced.

Part number 077907327A

New:

Thanks for the lambo part!

I also found another post that claimed the actuator could be sourced as either of the following 2 part numbers :

Hella
004 538

Range Rover
ETC7150

I googled both, and found this :

http://www.roverparts.com/Parts/ETC7150G.cfm

One of my customers asked about this, so he ordered direct from them. I have not heard back from him yet but I will post back if he gets what was needed.

I will add this to the DIY on the product page of www.GruvenParts.com

Default Pre facelift A8's

Found a picture of the PF A8 intake.
The vacuum linkage is a adjustable (metallic) rod.
The reference picture for the earlier manifold looks nothing like the facelift version.
Earlier PF example looks to be a simple design not having the plastic sleeve/o-ring.

I'll update when I finish having a look.

I knew the ball joint link rod is different, but the vacuum pod looks very similar...may be identical. The # on the pod's ball joint mount should tell the story.

Whatever happened to this repair? Where you able to use the Rover parts? I am in the same boat with my 02 S6 Avant.

I want to go with the Rover actuators and the Gruvenpart linkages at a huge savings over the Audi repair kit. (about $250 compared to $950)

I haven't needed the repair on mine yet and don't know of anyone who has ordered the Rover actuator...If they have, I wish they would post the result here...it sure looks like the correct fit and probably is.
I DO know for a fact that the Lambo actuator is an exact match...I know many who have used those for years.

Here's an email from one of my customers (regarding the ETC7150) from Rover :

>>

Paul-you were on my hit list. Yes, worked like a charm. Lo and behold-take them
out of the plastic wrap and it is a Hella part number 004-538-OEM. So at $75 per,
plus your linkage arm at $40 each-$115 vs the $375-400 Audi/VW wants. A really good
solution.

Thanks so much for your help. My A6 has 163 K on it and runs like a new one.

Thanks for the update Paul.

Great price...not only compared to VW/Audi dealer, but way cheaper the Lambo supplier most have used for years.

Rover part just $72, compared to $116 from Lambo.

This one appears to have the integrated spring inside the diaphram if so it is not the correct replacement and will inhibit the manifold from closing as fast as it should, I tried a couple like this and they didn't work like they should.
