2001 S8 Driver Information System DIS Backlight
The DIS display between the speedo and tacho in my 2001 S8 has been acting erratically. It's almost invisible in daylight but always comes on at night. I'm not sure whether the backlight has failed or there is some light sensor that is either blocked or failed. Anybody seen this? Thanks!

They start suffering from a bit of old age I think.
Its pretty common for the displays to need a long warming up period. Mine is almost never very legible during winter, but in summer is almost perfect.
I'm tempted to find a good solderer to give the LCD prongs a fresh solder to see if that fixes the issue. Otherwise it's a new display - bet it's an odd size too!
