Just recoded my 01 S8's TCM from 00102 to 00032 to see the difference. Anyone else try this yet?

"Don't know why, but the base code seems to be 15108, which is the sum of the values in columns 8,9,11,13 & 14." Can you explain in more detail, how this charts, comes up with the sum of "15108" in columns 8,9,11,13 & 14? I don't get how the chart is getting the numbers and adding them up.

I have no clue...the chart you see is all I have to go by. The numbers are a set of codes (binary?) for specific functions or programming unique to the D2 module.
Doesn't really matter in the long run, so long as the numbers add up to a code which nets specific functions ans eliminates others...which they do...a calculator will not lie to you.
It's just a numerical command that works.
Just like trans codes like 00032 (which gives you total control of 1st gear, unlike 00002 or 00012) simply reprograms the module (TCM) to react differently to controls and sensors >>>

Alright then, fair enough my friend. ^_^
Thank you so much for the help.
I now understand why, there isn't much data on the 2001 Audi S8 D2,because its so rare! there were only a 1,000 made a year. That's why i don't see many Audi S8 D2's on the road.
Whoever has one, keep it and stick with the maintenance, they are a treasure with its all aluminum frame.
This 2001 Audi S8 D2 was ahead of its time, they don't make them like this anymore, literally!
Aluminum is very expensive, metal to make an all aluminum body frame.

Follow-up on central locking codes >>>
I added "32" (auto lock) to my previous central locking code of "16204" to come up with code "16236", which was not a code included on the chart.
Works perfectly...all the functions I had before, plus auto lock added.
Simply add the numbers under the functions you want to the base "15108" (why 15108? ..who knows, who cares...it works) and you've got the combination you want and nothing you don't want.

Another nice upgrade for the 2001 is get a 02-03 TCU from another car and you will have S mode instead of 4. It makes aggressive city driving much more fun and changes the entire characteristic of the transmission and shift points.
Just make sure you get a S8 TCU if you have and S8 and an A8 TCU if you have an A8. It's plug and play

Agreed...one of the only things I envy about my wife's 03 Allroad...esp where I live. Pulling up long hills, S mode keeps the trans from constantly up-shifting when it really shouldn't...effortless and strong with same amount of foot on the pedal. Unfortunately something that no coding alone will do for a pre-02 TCM.
