Looking for a used body part
Is there someone with a 97 through 99 D2 that is or will be parted out (or just sitting in back yard)? I've been looking for a small piece of molding for my wife's 1998 A8. I found on on ebay a while back but it's non longer on ebay. I don't want to spend a lot on a part for a car with 180K mile and a KBB value of $500 or so.
Last summer she decided to "wipe' the garage side trim, cracking the mirror housing scuffing the fender and door with white paint and knocking off this piece of trim. I fixed the mirror housing, buffed off the latex paint and was planning on reinstalling the molding. Before I could do it, she saw the molding on my workbench and "stuck" it back on. Then she drove out for some shopping. Obviously, "sticking" it on wasn't permanent. I drove out with her and retraced her route to no avail. Molding is probably laying on the side of the road somewhere or smashed flat by car or truck tires.
Although the car looks decent, it's due for a t-belt job this summer, hence the low value. If I'm going to spend money on it, (do it myself), she wants me to make it "look" nice.
Here's a pic what I'm looking for: (NOTE, this is a stock pic of the driver's side) . I want the passenger side (US car)
Her car does not have the Audi emblem on it, but with or without is fine with me.

I've got a black 2000 (still a D2, but not sure if it's different than a '98) sitting in the garage that I'm parting out and getting ready to have hauled off to the scrapyard soon. I still have the passenger fender on the car, and can pull that part. Let me know if it will work for you.

I just compared the left fender trim of the 2000 which I already have off to the ‘98 that I have in my driveway. Unless the mounting is different, the design looks to be the same. Once again, let me know if the passenger one is what you’re looking for, and I can pull it for you.

I have the passenger side, as the fender is still on the parts car. However, after looking at it, is looks like the fender as well as the fender trim has a scuff of white paint on it.
I'm located in Kalkaska, MI (49646), but if you only need the fender trim, it's small enough that shipping wouldn't be much at all. If you're interested, just make me an offer.

Thanks for the follow up. As it turns out, I found a parts car in Grand Rapids, (30 miles from me). Not only did I score the trim piece but it also had the front bumper blank that covers where a license plate would go (in a state where they have front plates). I got bot the fender trim and bumper blank for $20 bucks.
I considered it a deal. I might go back and get the glove compartment latch mechanism. I messed with it for a while but the car was sitting in the sun and the inside was like an oven, plus there was a bee's nest inside somewhere. The heat and bees drove me away.
