Loud sound from the steering when reversing...
Hey guys,
When I reverse, I hear a very loud whine for a few seconds then it stops but only when I am turning. If I reverse in a straight direction, no whining. I have changed the steering fluid twice as well as the little filter in the reservior but to no avail.
Any advice?
1998 S8 Quattro, 60k miles.

I had that problem in some non-Audi vehicles, and it was wheel bearing and something in the brakes.
You might want to look at those things too, unless you know the sound is coming from your steering rack or pump.
