Which Manf., has the best CV Boot Kit?
I'm over at the Parts Geek site, trying to determine who's producing the better CV BOOT REPAIR KIT.
Any suggestions?? pc |
For the front outers I have used the Audi kits which are pretty cheap and seem great!
https://www.europaparts.com/cv-boot-...a-genuine.html I think I have gotten them from Amazon as well. Avoid Smartpost if you buy from Europa unless you are going on vacation for a couple weeks and the parts can wander around aimlessly in your absence. My tricks are to use the axle bolt and a spacer to press the joint apart and to make the D ring smaller and more round for reassembly so it fits into the counterbore and does not get mashed and cut. |
GKN Loebro = OEM manufacturer or the CV shafts.

Just had my cv axles rebuilt and driveshaft cv joint, car feels so much better now, steering wheel is steady with no play, accelerates better, doesnt click anymore when turning. They charged me 560$ for both axles parts and labor and 320$ for driveshaft.I dont know which parts they used but they rebuild them in house for other mechanic shops.
Autozone is suspiciosly cheap at 75$ a side i wonder if those would work, oems are 400$ at audiusaparts. |
Whew!..
Glad I shopped around. $200 to rebuild both left and right. Labor & Parts pc |
didnt mention i got whole new joints all 4 of them. You probably only got new boots and grease.
