Is it me or is the Bentley the most useless when it comes to simple thngs...
like the rear final drive seals.
I have a leak on the passenger side of my rear differential.
It is obvious to me that it's the seal. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Where do I find info on how to replace this seal in the Bentley, the part name or number for that matter?
Anyone know where I can buy this seal?

here's the link for rear diff seals
I would do both at the same time, if the other one's not leaking it will be at any time.
I wrote this procedure a long time ago and would now add:
loosen the rear diff mounting bolts (three at the rear crossmember and 1-2 on the driver side, all hex). Support the diff with a bottle jack. Once the bolts are removed, you'll be able to move the diff slightly from side to side and give you more room to drop the axles down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. Audiworld listers are the best.
Owning a D2 would be really difficult and expensive if it weren't for this site and the wisdom of all the listers.
I cannot express this enough.
Thank you all very much.

a lot of times it's the naming convention that makes a search difficult
toothed belt = timing belt
ribbed belt = drive belt
track link = control arms
flange seal = differential seal
etc., etc.
Best thing to do is drill down by category otherwise you'll drive yourself crazy.
