These delicious pictures of the new A8(?) sure look very believable but...
...for some reason I am only 95% sure we're looking at the real deal here (the brake lights on one of the three shots looks Photoshopped to me). Oooh, whatever! The car looks darn good and for some reason seems to nicely complete/start the line of new Audi models! Thanks for sharing the URL. I hadn't seen these pictures before. I was hoping to see some of them earlier using Google's image search engine.
About the wheels: I have them on my A8 as well and believe they are, like some of you replied, very good looking. And I agree they are very easy to clean: in the winter I just drive them through the touchless car wash, put on some tire shine, and wipe off the rims. Shiny!!

"Photoshopped" by Automedia
The pictures of the silver "new A8" is made by Automedia based on rumuors and on the blue car they claim is a prototype shot at a VW/Audi test centre in Finland recently.
Strange though, *extremely* similar pictures of such prototypes has been showed before, only then the car seemed to be in a desert. Now what looks like the exact same car shows up on snow in Finland months later, with the same camouflage, shot from the same angle, same colour, same distance, same almost everything, except the snow that was sand the last time I saw the picture. Well, do the math...
:-)
By the way, the Automedia article was full of strange information. They claim the S8 will have the same engine as now, 360 Hp. They say the entry-level engine will be a 3,0 V6 with 210 HP (The A4 has the same engine with 220 Hp). Strange thing is that all other new "3 litre class" VAG vehicles are getting the new 3,2 V6 with 241 Hp. Even the VW Golf gets it. And the A8 don't? Right. There where more information in that article thet doesn't match the other information unveiled, so either are Automedia better informed than others, or they are not doing a very good job. I believe the latter.
That said, the pictures are *nice*, and I wouldn't be suprised at all if they are a quite good match.

I have 17" A6 4.2 wheels...
...the offset is 35 et versus 48 et for the 18" S8 wheels or the 17" polished wheels (both are 8" wide, the same as the 4.2 wheels). That means they'll stick out about 1/2" further, no big deal.
I'm getting a tire (245 series) to match the OD of the stock 16, 17 or 18 tire on the car. With a 245 series, I need to get a 245/50/17. Very few cars out there with that tire, only one really high performance tire, a Pzero asemetrical....
They are about $220 each at the tire rack - ouch! Never had tires that cost that much before.....but my blizaks are working quite nicely on the 16" rims during Chicago's recent snow...the car goes anywhere with those tires.
I don't know if you can get the 4.2 wheels in 18", at least not in the states. BTW, they are forged wheels.
