More woes on the hoopty A8... Transmission this time...
So my wife reported to me that for the past few weeks, when going up hill on an exit ramp the transmission fails to downshift. She'll put her foot all the way to the floor and the engine will rev but the transmission won't engage. When it finally does the tires squeak.
So I guess it's time for a rebuild. We're at >155k now.

I want to get a quote from a local guy who has done...
a lot of GM transmissions for myself and my family, including center differentials. He's done good work and was really reasonably priced. He's also within walking distance of my house, so I can drop off the car and walk home
