Default My A8 is soaked.

My car has had an odor problem whenever it rained. I mentioned this to the dealer and he said all the drains were clear. Yesterday I was driving fast around a corner and noticed that water had poured all over my foot. Then later in the day I heard a gush of water pouring out of my rear vents. I knew right away that I had the clogged drain problem. I still have a warranty on my 2001 but decided to repair the problem myself. It was not too bad however the carpets were really wet. I removed all of them and have them drying now. I was able to use a little hand pump to remove the water from inside the rear vent tunnel under the center console as it was full.
I will probably take the car to the dealer and have them replace the torn drains with new ones.

Default A/C & Cowl Drains.

My 2001 A8L suffers from the drain problem as well. It seems like the little flaps on the bottom of the orange drains on both sides of the console catch debris. If you look at the design it seems like they reqire a certain amount of liquid in them before they will open and let it flow out. IMHO I think they will be more efficient with the flaps cut off. This way any debris in them will be washed out and not accumulate in them. I have cut my flaps off and so far no known problems. I have also removed the rubber drains in the fender wells with no ill effects other than keeping the area around the strut towers much drier.
