Even with leaving the engine in the car, you can at least get to the stuff on the back. I had the engine on two 6 foot tall jackstands while the trans was out, and replaced some hoses back there. I think my trans jack, which tilts in 2 directions, came in handy for tweaking the positioning to make final hookup easier.
Of course this is all moot if you don't need to pull the trans, as tozoM8 seems to indicate. He's an authority on these transmissions.

Thank you for your input.
Could you please let me know what seals I need to have on hand to replace and do the job well.
I am thinking of the following approach.... 1st try to repair the leak with "tilting/lowering/rear-end" of the transmission.
If unsuccessful, then to proceed with 2nd try by removing the engine and transmission together from the font.
But in any case trying to prepare with having parts on hand to replace and freshen up the hoses and other while all is exposed.

Seal kit
You would need a seal kit. I don't know if you can buy them separately. 5HP24A kit from eBay will be around $200. It will have the two double seals and the two paper case gaskets that you need for the job.
