I really like the original shape of the A8 when it was first introduced in 1994, but feel that it is starting to look a little dated now... The new one obviously looks like they took a lot of styling cues from the smaller A6.. It should be interesting to see how the New A8 measures up to the upcoming 7-series, which I think also looks like a very handsome car judging from the press release photographs.. I can't wait to see how the 2- compare against one another...

If you haven't noticed, the current A8...
and the current A4 share many design characteristics (along with the previous generation A6). It's called "branding."
