Default New Porsche Sedan? (Off Topic)

I have not been on this site for some time, let alone posted anything (I hope all is well with you and your A8's, mine has been behaving properly), yet I came across an article I thought you chaps may find of interest. Not sure if these photos are valid, however it is well known that Porsche is working on a sedan(second time since the 80's) however this time it will be built and in production by 2007, and sharing technology with VW and Audi on this endeavor.

It is said to share a common platform with the Pheaton or otherwise known as the D2 platform which was used by the previous generation A8. Engine will be same as the ones used on the Cayenne. The optional link will or should take you to the second photo.

http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/37643/655.jpg</a

Default Actually......

I may consider this sedan once it is finally produced over an A8. However that remains to be seen, if this new Porsche Sedan is as reliable as the Cayenne, I will forgo the Porsche altogether.....However from these CGI's, I am impressed to say the least, and if Porsche decides to use an ASF body it will be hard to resist.

Default I think it's brilliant!

And a much better idea than the Cayenne! Yes they're selling lots of these trucks (let's face it, that's what it is) here in the NY/NJ area but I gag every time I see one. Just an unattractive design and what is up with that ad campaign in which the guy needlessly revs that turbo V8 in his DRIVEWAY to impress his friend?!

A saloon would better meet the needs of the more traditional Porsche enthusiasts IMHO. I'd certainly consider it when my A8L's lease is up in early '07. But then there are lots of other cars to whet my appetite when the time comes.

I'll certainly be keeping a close eye on this development...

Default Someone needs to sneak a message to their styling department:

Not all iterations of a Porsche vehicle need to look like 911 CONVERSIONS!!!

It's great to retain styling CUES but this CONVERSION method is what gave us that frog-faced CAYENNE.

The Porsche sedan is a great idea whose time has come - I think it is a relief after the Cayenne - but that view from the rear is all wrong. The front looks like it has potential to be pretty hot, depending on the rest of the front fascia, but the view from behind of a 4 door 911 is just silly.

They don't seem to get that it can still look unmistakeably like a Porsche without looking like a Monster Garage conversion!

Anyone else see this as a hurdle for their design dept, or am I completely off-base here?

One car to consider when your lease is up on your '04 A8L is the second generation RS6. That should be a sweet car.

Default They've been on and off the 4-dr. With the SUV in place, ...

... I believe they'll focus their attention first to a Sport GT-type of car to fight with Bentley, Aston Martin, and Ferrari. So, my instinct is that they'll try to develop something along the lines of the excellent 928 before they bring out a 4-dr.
