new s8 or maybe rs8 ?
i drive audis since 1984 replacing them every year.
My 2002 s8 might be the last one.
Car magazines speculate the new s8 with twin turbo
v8 will have around 500hp and will not be available in the USA.
If that's the case ,i'm getting the new e55 compressor.If Audi doesn't care about our market and sends only transportation appliances then i'll
spend my money elswhere.
Seems to me Mercedes and BMW are more commited to car enthusiasts here!

I would not be surprised if you were right.
The bean counters will probably nix a new 500Hp S8 as it will cost a lot and not sell well. Where can you get anywhere near the use of the potential of this new S8 in North America? Possibly they will bring it out later to keep the Audi name in the news but not to make any money on the car. Car Magazines love performance cars and it would be a great way to extend the excitement factor of the new model line. I was looking forward to a new S8 but, like you, may have to settle for something else. Who knows the new A8 might be all I need? I sure like the Quatro feature.

V8 BiTurbo vs. W12
I've heard the new S8 will have the W12 engine. The bi-turbo V8 is placed in the Avantisimo and will be the engine for the new RS6. If Audi continues the RS-series with every model change, there will also be an RS-8 based on the current A8/S8 model. It's likely that this car, if and when produced, will have the bi-turbo V8 as well. I don't expect the new S8 this year, since the introduction of the new A8 series is scheduled for the end of this year. (presentation on the Geneva Motor Show,

Ah, there is a very good example of what I ment with the "Finland" picture being a photoshopped old "prototype in desert" picture.
Take a look at:

And compare the "Finland" picture to the top desert picture. Same picture or not? :-)
Regarding Geneva, have you found any sources saying the A8 will be presented there?
BTW: I do agree with you that it is quite possible the S8 could get the W12. But I still find the V8 biturbo to be more likly.
